We know that no owner deliberately lets their pets become matted, however it does happen quite easily and it can be very difficult to groom a pet with a matted coat. As a professional cat groomer, I adhere to the animal welfare act of 2006, and will not subject a pet to any more than 15 minutes of de-matting. It is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to any animal. This includes prolonged de-matting, which can be very painful and detrimental to the welfare of your feline friend. I will ensure to confirm with you, before any clipping has begun, so that you are aware and agree with my decision to proceed with the grooming process.

Please be aware that there is a much higher risk that your pets skin could be nicked with the clippers as the blade has to get underneath the matts in order to remove the coat. Every effort will be made to avoid this happening. There is also a strong chance that your pet's skin will become irritated during the clipping process. Medicated shampoo will be used to help sooth any irritation that may occur.

If not treated, a matted coat could cause future health problems, therefore every effort will be made to remove a matted coat. In extreme circumstances, if the process becomes too stressful or painful for the pet, I may recommend that your pet is de-matted under sedation by a veterinarian. It is the objective of Aida's Kitty Care that each pet has a stress free experience, therefore pets will never be subjected to prolonged discomfort.
